Real Wedding: Wertz-Rice

As You Wish bride and groom Andrea and Paul wanted their wedding to be rustic, elegant, and fun! We at As You Wish had the absolute pleasure of bringing their unique vision to life!

The bride and her bridal party started the magical day by getting primped and pampered by the talented artists and stylists from Elan Make-up Studio at The Crescent hotel. The girls had a wonderful time  and were ready for the nuptials!

Upon arrival at Arlington Hall at Lee Park, the guests were welcomed with a piano performance by a freind of the family as they walked through the beautiful foyer and made their way to the ceremony site outside. The ceremony began just as the sun set and the musicians of Forte Strings started their performance. The bee lights hanging from the vaulted ceiling twinkled in the beautifully decorated tent, set up by Mike Sandone Productions, which made for a breathtaking sight and the perfect romantic setting for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds, family, and friends alike made their way to the cocktail hour and reception where they were awed by the outstanding floral designs all throughout the venue, expertly created by Bella Flora. After the guests enjoyed their delicious food from Food, Glorious Food, the party began! Emerald City Band had everyone on their feet dancing while John of John Cain Photography captured all the fun. Panini cakes wow’d the crowd with freshly baked cupcakes and a tasty cake.

To end the sweet and unforgettable night, bubbles filled the air as Paul and Andrea, now husband and wife, made their grand exit, taken away by a specialty Bentley car, provided by Blue Diamond Limousines. A fabulous way to complete a fabulous wedding!

Real Wedding: Johnson-McLamb

We’ve been waiting with bated breath to see the photos of this out-of-a-dream October wedding since the moment this sweet AYW couple said “I do.” We knew it early on in the journey of planning and designing this outdoor Fall soiree: Taylor and Chris’ celebration would be an evening to remember.

Guests were driven from the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church ceremony to Downton Dallas’ Nasher Sculpture Center. In the heart of the big city, this coveted sculpture garden venue was the perfect location for Taylor and Chris’ families to entertain their beloved guests. During the cocktail hour, a jazz band played whiled guests sipped on signature drinks- complete with customized stir sticks and beverage napkins adorned with the couple’s monogram, designed by Southern Fried Paper. Upon the happy couple’s entrance, the party found their escort cards tied with dainty twine to a stunning boxwood trellis wall display. Dinner tables were decked with bright, bold linen and statement centerpieces full of unexpected texture and pastel blooms thanks to Bella Acento and Bella Flora. The bridal party took their seats at a jaw-droppingly gorgeous farmstead-style head table; topped with a floral garland runner and lovely blue china. The guests of honor, Taylor and Chris, found their chairs draped in free-form greenery with “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair back signage. Swanky lounge furniture surrounded an all-white dance floor, and everyone danced under sparkly string lights to an epic performance by band, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. The cake, created by Panini Bakery, was (almost) too pretty to eat. At the end of a fabulous evening spent under the stars, custom favor boxes of Godiva chocolate were picked up by each guest after they said farewell to the newlyweds with waving ribbon wands.

Needless to say, these images (captured beautifully by Jennifer Yarbro) have us all kinds of “heart eyes,” and we’re pretty sure they’ll have you gushing, too. Take a look at this sneak peek preview and check back on our Facebook page later this week for a complete album of all the prettiness!

Real Wedding: Turner – Price

AYW lead designer and planner, Rachel Burt, loves getting to know her clients’ families. So, of course, it’s a special honor when the little sister of a past AYW bride reconnects with Rachel following her own engagement. Such was the case with this week’s Real Wedding feature, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be apart of a second Turner family affair. Add on the adventure of Claire and groom, Michael’s, destination venue… let’s just say, we were smitten.

A bayside resort was the perfect, scenic backdrop for Claire and Michael’s nuptials. Fortunately, the threat of impending rain was bypassed and their Horseshoe Bay yacht club reception took place as hoped: under bright, clear skies. Fabulous weather, signature cocktails, romantic cafe string lighting, a glowing bride and groom, and the sound of waves lapping against the dock of the bay made for a dreamy Fall wedding. A couple of our favorite details: an escort card wall display complete with a horseshoe tied to each guest’s table assignment, and the bride and groom’s grand exit by way of speed boat. Enjoy a few preview images, captured by Gerri Flory Photography, of this pretty September evening- we’re pretty sure they’ll have you smitten and wishing for warmer days, too. The full album will be on our Facebook page later this week!

Real Wedding: Trujillo-Strode

There’s something especially personal that comes with hosting a wedding on family property … and, it becomes incredibly Texan (and fabulous) when the property is a spacious ranch. Madison and James’ Fall celebration was classic and glamorous, with a touch of rustic, Texas flair. The duo said “I do” beneath a fabulous floral archway created by the Garden Gate. Regal blue and white china vases, oversized lanterns, and stylish lounge furniture pieces were spread thick throughout the outdoor ceremony and reception. Take a look at the gorgeous details captured by Sengbush Photography, and check back on our Facebook page later this week for the full photo album from this event!

AYW Exclusive: Halloween-Inspired Wedding Design

October’s notorious holiday weekend sure snuck up on us this year, nonetheless, we’re excited to slip into our costumes and celebrate Halloween in a few short days! To help spread some of our ‘spooky’ spiritedness, we thought it’d be fun to share photos from a few As You Wish weddings that took place on or near all Hallow’s eve in years passed.

Yes, there certainly are ways to incorporate a nod to Halloween in the designing of weddings- tastefully and creatively, of course. Scroll on for some edgy-elegance event design inspiration!

Think black chandeliers, moody lighting, deep-hued bouquets, themed dessert items, and of course, for outdoor weddings especially, pumpkins

Dimly lit, nighttime receptions provide the perfect setting for a Halloween-weekend wedding. Subtle changes made to the lighting of the space can add drama instantaneously.

Black chandeliers, like those pictured above, have an edgy and gothic sort of essence while still remaining elegant in shape and style.

Color combinations like black and deep, scarlet red are understated compared to an explicitly “Halloween” black, purple, and orange scheme.

Perhaps the simplest way to incorporate Halloween details in the planning of an event: desserts and favors. Think sugar skull cake toppers and cookies, caramel apples, and pumpkin-flavored sweets.

Trending: Photo Booth Backdrops

Something we love about the process of designing an event: there is always an opportunity to add beauty to a space in creative and innovative ways. In fact, one of our As You Wish ‘mantras’ is to leave no detail of a wedding “untouched.” The images that are currently inspiring us depict above-ordinary photo booth backdrops. Providing a stunning backdrop for guests to have their own photo snapped at an event is another way to play up the awe-factor of a wedding’s design scheme. Scroll through some of these backdrop ideas that have our design-wheels turning:

1. Frame it in floral:

Bright blooms aligned with the event’s floral design always translate beautifully on camera. Be it an entire wall of arranged flowers, or an asymmetrical installation of garland suspended over draped fabric- a bounty of floral does no wrong.

 2. Pretty paper: These installations of oversized paper flowers, pinwheels, and pennant flags are statement-makers.

3. Say it in lights: The ambiance and romance that comes with strands of twinkle lights and lit candles is undeniable. Just make sure your photographer is prepared to adjust the settings on their camera to accurately capture the beauty!

4. Lounge. Furniture: Our obsession with luxurious lounge furniture is unmatched. Hung chandeliers and trendy, tufted sofas add instant elegance to a photograph.

5. Spell it out: Oversized lettering- be it in the form of bold helium balloons or sparkly cut out alphabetical characters- is on trend; especially for the bride who’s taste is on the rustic side.

Real Wedding: Pantuso-Schaible Reception

Last week, we shared images of our sweet As You Wish bride, Ashley’s, rooftop ceremony at The Wyly Theatre. After the ceremony, guests rode elevators down to an awe-inducing reception space. Bright, pink Bella Flora blooms brought bold color to each table top; trendy lounge furniture complemented cross back dining chairs; and an out-of-this-world head table lighting installation of Edison bulbs and geometric vases boasted modern sophistication. To continue with the incorporation of flight-themed details, airport codes took the place of table numbers (home base, DFW, identified the head table) and each guest’s menu card was displayed in a sleek, black luggage tag. The sunken, lit dance floor- and Andy Austin’s top-notch DJ’ing- ushered guests into an evening of dancing and good fun. We hope you enjoy the details from this celebration as much as we have! A big thanks to Carter Rose of f8 Studio for capturing all this gorgeous- check our Facebook page for the full photo album from this epic event!

Real Wedding: Spring Hindu-Catholic Wedding

Last week, we shared the first round of photos from one of our all-time favorite wedding weekends to date, kicked off by a fabulous Sangeet party. The multicultural + multiple-day long celebration that took place last Spring, beautifully designed and planned by As You Wish lead planner, Rachel Burt, was memorable in more ways than one.  Unforgettable moments include: a Lamborghini driven INTO the Fairmont hotel by the Groom; the Bride and Groom’s first dance complete with a fireworks display; and the crowd of guests viewing a same-day edit film (created by none other than Hakim Sons Films) of the festivities at the conclusion of the reception. An expert team of vendors brought their A-game to pull off a soiree that was jaw-droppingly gorgeous in terms of design, meticulously executed, and… so. fun.

We’re endlessly thankful to: Bella Flora for bringing our design vision to life with whimsical, elegant, and garden-esque florals that transformed The Fairmont ballroom into a thing of ethereal beauty; Southern Fried Paper and Nicole Black calligraphy for stunning paper products and hand lettering; the JenXFaces team for enhancing the beauty of an already-gorgeous Bride and her bridal party; Jordan Kahn Band and DJ Riz for top-notch entertainment throughout the entirety of the weekend; Pyrotecnico for wow-worthy fireworks displays; Fancy Cakes by Lauren for her handcrafted and beautiful cakes; Hakim Sons Films for their cinematography magic; and finally, Edmonson Weddings for capturing these moments on camera so beautifully! Enjoy this sneak preview of stunning images and stay tuned for the full photo album to go live on our Facebook page later this week!

Real Wedding: Wooldridge – Pallasch

Most of the time, really fantastic wedding photos speak for themselves. Such is absolutely the case with these images from gorgeous As You Wish couple, Angelina and Brant’s, timelessly pretty May celebration. Sara and Rocky Garza perfectly captured the blend of whimsical and classic design elements that adorned the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. The Mansion provides a stunning backdrop for an intimate event without much help; so, with ethereal blooms and lush, green garland foraged by Bows + Arrows, tabletops decked with regal china courtesy of Posh Couture Rentals, AND a bridal party this beautiful in accompaniment.. we’ve got ourselves one incredibly dreamy wedding. Enjoy this sneak peak of Angelina and Brant’s nuptials, and check back on our Facebook page later this week for the rest of the striking images from this event!

Real Wedding: McCoy – Doolittle

We have been so eager to show off this jaw-dropping, heart-stopping, right-out-of-a-dream wedding. Our As You Wish bride, Rose, and her fabulous mother, Dr. Rosemary McCoy, came to us with big dreams of throwing a once-in-a-lifetime, fun party that would blow their guests away… and send them running to the dance floor. The design scheme showcased the Pantone color of the year for 2014, radiant orchid, in all of it’s glory. Stunning floral centerpieces dripping in crystals, a custom silver dance floor, and bright, bold, sparkly table linens of varying textures- all courtesy of Jackson Durham, decked this Dallas Country Club reception in glamour.

Rose and her groom, John, were both studying to become Doctors during the planning process. Thus, having their guests transcribe a “Prescription for a Happy Marriage” on customized Rx pads in place of a traditional guest book was a precious, personal touch.

We loved this unique floor plan utilizing full-of-flair lounge furniture and chic ghost chairs for a swanky alternative to ordinary reception seating.

Talk about a party! This take on the Groom’s dessert of choice was above and beyond. A one-of-a-kind whiskey bar featuring local whiskey and the Groom’s personal favorites, complete with suggested gourmet chocolate pairings, was a huge hit!

Guests said farewell to the Bride and Groom and they made off in an adorable, vintage getaway car. It was truly an unforgettable affair! Be sure to pay a visit to our Facebook page later this week to view all of the photos of this spectacular wedding by Edmonson Photography.
