Sethi Proposal

Vipin Sethi pulled out all the stops to ask his one true love, Ria Sharma, to marry him. We at As You Wish Events loved helping Vipin plan his intricately detailed and over-the-top romantic proposal!

The surprise-filled night started as Ria was picked up at her home by a white limo, of Premier Transportation. As she arrived at The Stoneleigh Hotel, she was greeted with a glass of champagne and a note to continue to the Penthouse level. Upon arrival, she received another note, explaining to follow the arrows to the penthouse terrace. All the while, Vipin is awaiting his bride-to-be, surrounded by beautiful flowers and candles, adorned by Bella Flora, and by beautiful music, performed by the talented musicians of Serenata Strings, and the perfect lighting for the scene by Beyond Lighting. As the song, “I Knew I Loved You” played, hidden cameras captured the moment Vipin proposed to Ria. Sarah Kate, of Sarah Kate Photography, shot the sweet moments that followed as the couple celebrated.

The surprises did not end there. Unknown to Ria, Vipin’s and Ria’s families were anxiously waiting to congratulate the newly engaged couple. In the salon room, the family shared a meal sitting at the most romantic table ever…a heart shaped table! Posh Couture Rentals and Big D Rentals expertly set the mood for an unforgettable night. Congratulations to AYW couple Ria and Vipin! We are so excited for what’s next…

Real Wedding: Johnson-McLamb

We’ve been waiting with bated breath to see the photos of this out-of-a-dream October wedding since the moment this sweet AYW couple said “I do.” We knew it early on in the journey of planning and designing this outdoor Fall soiree: Taylor and Chris’ celebration would be an evening to remember.

Guests were driven from the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church ceremony to Downton Dallas’ Nasher Sculpture Center. In the heart of the big city, this coveted sculpture garden venue was the perfect location for Taylor and Chris’ families to entertain their beloved guests. During the cocktail hour, a jazz band played whiled guests sipped on signature drinks- complete with customized stir sticks and beverage napkins adorned with the couple’s monogram, designed by Southern Fried Paper. Upon the happy couple’s entrance, the party found their escort cards tied with dainty twine to a stunning boxwood trellis wall display. Dinner tables were decked with bright, bold linen and statement centerpieces full of unexpected texture and pastel blooms thanks to Bella Acento and Bella Flora. The bridal party took their seats at a jaw-droppingly gorgeous farmstead-style head table; topped with a floral garland runner and lovely blue china. The guests of honor, Taylor and Chris, found their chairs draped in free-form greenery with “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair back signage. Swanky lounge furniture surrounded an all-white dance floor, and everyone danced under sparkly string lights to an epic performance by band, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. The cake, created by Panini Bakery, was (almost) too pretty to eat. At the end of a fabulous evening spent under the stars, custom favor boxes of Godiva chocolate were picked up by each guest after they said farewell to the newlyweds with waving ribbon wands.

Needless to say, these images (captured beautifully by Jennifer Yarbro) have us all kinds of “heart eyes,” and we’re pretty sure they’ll have you gushing, too. Take a look at this sneak peek preview and check back on our Facebook page later this week for a complete album of all the prettiness!

AYW Exclusive: 2015 Team Photo Shoot

We’re big believers in celebration. Which is why a necessary photo shoot to gather updated headshot and team images for the AYW girls turned into… well, a party. What do you get when you have champagne, a box of Fluellen cupcakes, the TC Makeup team, and Jennifer Yarbro of Jennifer Yarbro Photography? Answer: really cute pictures and an afternoon of really good fun! See for yourself!

We are SO thankful to the TC Makeup girls and Jennifer Yarbro for making this afternoon possible for the AYW team! These new team photos and many more surprises will be up on the website next year!

Real Wedding: Turner – Price

AYW lead designer and planner, Rachel Burt, loves getting to know her clients’ families. So, of course, it’s a special honor when the little sister of a past AYW bride reconnects with Rachel following her own engagement. Such was the case with this week’s Real Wedding feature, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be apart of a second Turner family affair. Add on the adventure of Claire and groom, Michael’s, destination venue… let’s just say, we were smitten.

A bayside resort was the perfect, scenic backdrop for Claire and Michael’s nuptials. Fortunately, the threat of impending rain was bypassed and their Horseshoe Bay yacht club reception took place as hoped: under bright, clear skies. Fabulous weather, signature cocktails, romantic cafe string lighting, a glowing bride and groom, and the sound of waves lapping against the dock of the bay made for a dreamy Fall wedding. A couple of our favorite details: an escort card wall display complete with a horseshoe tied to each guest’s table assignment, and the bride and groom’s grand exit by way of speed boat. Enjoy a few preview images, captured by Gerri Flory Photography, of this pretty September evening- we’re pretty sure they’ll have you smitten and wishing for warmer days, too. The full album will be on our Facebook page later this week!

Real Wedding: Trujillo-Strode

There’s something especially personal that comes with hosting a wedding on family property … and, it becomes incredibly Texan (and fabulous) when the property is a spacious ranch. Madison and James’ Fall celebration was classic and glamorous, with a touch of rustic, Texas flair. The duo said “I do” beneath a fabulous floral archway created by the Garden Gate. Regal blue and white china vases, oversized lanterns, and stylish lounge furniture pieces were spread thick throughout the outdoor ceremony and reception. Take a look at the gorgeous details captured by Sengbush Photography, and check back on our Facebook page later this week for the full photo album from this event!

Trending: Mix and Match Tablescapes

We love sharing new and exciting trends in wedding design that we’ve seen come to life in the planning of our clients’ weddings. As of late, one of those trends has been mismatched decor elements. From mixing colors, patterns and textures in unexpected ways on tabletops, to utilizing varying styles of chairs in ceremony and reception spaces- daring to step outside the traditional ‘matchy-matchy’ lines of event design has brought about stunning and unique wedding ceremonies and receptions. Today on the blog, we’re featuring some of the recent ways we’ve included differing styles and textures in event spaces to bring about unexpectedly cohesive and beautiful As You Wish design schemes. Take a look and be inspired!

This garden reception showcased fun (and bold in color and pattern) linen accompanied by blooms in soft, muted shades of blue and orange. The wooden branches of each floral arrangement added an element of free-form, organic texture to the tablescape.

We loved the turnout of this recent rooftop ceremony, featuring cross back and linen chairs of mismatched colors. The varying chairs brought unique depth to the design of an otherwise clean, industrial space.

The mixed silver, gold, mirrored, and metallic metals of this editorial evoked a really unique sense of glamour. Glossy, painted leaves splashed otherwise elegant arrays of flowers with style.

Black and white does not have to mean boring! We decided on varying, busy linen patterns in minimalistic colors for this artistic, creative, and modern design scheme. Fuchsia napkins at each place setting tied together the tropical vessels of flowers and the color-neutral table tops perfectly.

These bud vases, of differing colors, shapes, and sizes, oozed romance.

Vintage, embroidered table cloths, each strewn with a different pattern, were perfect for this eclectic, bohemian reception.

Real Wedding: Nikaidoh-White

We were feeling all the sweet, romance-inspired, lovey-dovey, walking-on-a-cloud feels when we opened the photo gallery of images from our recent As You Wish wedding at the Dallas Museum of Art. (The rooftop first look photos…swoon!) Amy Karp expertly captured this precious couple’s love for one another and the artistic, sophisticated details that served as a backdrop to their unfolding love story on the day of their wedding.

Our bride, Kimi, is a renowned ballerina and dance professional, so clearly, she has an aptitude for creative expression. The DMA was the perfect setting for this modern, artsy-elegant event. Dr. Delphinium created clean, tropical-inspired floral installations that stood boldly upon mismatched, patterned black and white table linens. To offset the varying black and white patterns of the table tops, color splashed napkins added a lively touch to each place setting. Add in stellar food, a room full of guests who aren’t afraid of the dance floor, and one handsome bride and groom duo to this wedding design mix… we had a magical evening! Check back on our Facebook page later this week for more awe-inspiring pictures!

Real Wedding: Pantuso-Schaible Ceremony

If we had to put our finger on a single word to describe the design of this week’s As You Wish real wedding, it’d be originality. Bride, Ashley, had a flair for things creative, modern, and out of the ordinary and thus, Dallas’ Wyly Theater provided the perfect backdrop for this b-e-a-utiful celebration. Awe-inducing floral and lighting installations, provided by Bella Flora, brought lead planner and designer, Rachel Burt’s, vision to life. This wedding was so jam-packed with pretty, we couldn’t fit it all in a single blog post. So today, we’re sharing images- perfectly captured by Carter Rose of f8 Studio- of Ashley and Jason’s ceremony. Be sure to click your way back to the blog next week to see the equally gorgeous photos from their reception!

The wedding took place on July 11th (7/11) so, naturally, 7/11 Slurpees were in order for the bridal party!

The celebration would have been incomplete without Ashley and Jason’s beloved Bull Terrier pup.. how cute is that floral collar?!

With a pilot groom, it was most fitting to substitute a flight logbook for a traditional guestbook!

Real Wedding: Spring Hindu-Catholic Wedding

Last week, we shared the first round of photos from one of our all-time favorite wedding weekends to date, kicked off by a fabulous Sangeet party. The multicultural + multiple-day long celebration that took place last Spring, beautifully designed and planned by As You Wish lead planner, Rachel Burt, was memorable in more ways than one.  Unforgettable moments include: a Lamborghini driven INTO the Fairmont hotel by the Groom; the Bride and Groom’s first dance complete with a fireworks display; and the crowd of guests viewing a same-day edit film (created by none other than Hakim Sons Films) of the festivities at the conclusion of the reception. An expert team of vendors brought their A-game to pull off a soiree that was jaw-droppingly gorgeous in terms of design, meticulously executed, and… so. fun.

We’re endlessly thankful to: Bella Flora for bringing our design vision to life with whimsical, elegant, and garden-esque florals that transformed The Fairmont ballroom into a thing of ethereal beauty; Southern Fried Paper and Nicole Black calligraphy for stunning paper products and hand lettering; the JenXFaces team for enhancing the beauty of an already-gorgeous Bride and her bridal party; Jordan Kahn Band and DJ Riz for top-notch entertainment throughout the entirety of the weekend; Pyrotecnico for wow-worthy fireworks displays; Fancy Cakes by Lauren for her handcrafted and beautiful cakes; Hakim Sons Films for their cinematography magic; and finally, Edmonson Weddings for capturing these moments on camera so beautifully! Enjoy this sneak preview of stunning images and stay tuned for the full photo album to go live on our Facebook page later this week!

As You Wish Exclusive: The BIG Reveal, A Bride’s Reaction to her Wedding Décor

Admittedly, there are multiple awe-worthy moments on a wedding day: when the Bride first steps out in her wedding gown, when the Bride and Groom first lock eyes, when the Bride walks down the aisle, the first kiss shared as husband and wife…the list goes on. And then, one of our most favorite gasp-inspiring moments as wedding designers: when the Bride sees her wedding reception decor- that she’s dreamt of throughout months of planning and preparing- become reality for the very first time. On multiple occasions, we’ve snuck our Brides and their Grooms into the reception space before guests have been invited in for the evening, to take a “first look” at the decor and design of their special event that we’ve envisioned and anticipated since the day they first sat down in our As You Wish office. Lucky for us, photographer’s have captured these priceless reactions on camera, and today, we’re sharing some of our favorite “room reveals” from past events!
