Real Wedding: Wertz-Rice

As You Wish bride and groom Andrea and Paul wanted their wedding to be rustic, elegant, and fun! We at As You Wish had the absolute pleasure of bringing their unique vision to life!

The bride and her bridal party started the magical day by getting primped and pampered by the talented artists and stylists from Elan Make-up Studio at The Crescent hotel. The girls had a wonderful time  and were ready for the nuptials!

Upon arrival at Arlington Hall at Lee Park, the guests were welcomed with a piano performance by a freind of the family as they walked through the beautiful foyer and made their way to the ceremony site outside. The ceremony began just as the sun set and the musicians of Forte Strings started their performance. The bee lights hanging from the vaulted ceiling twinkled in the beautifully decorated tent, set up by Mike Sandone Productions, which made for a breathtaking sight and the perfect romantic setting for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds, family, and friends alike made their way to the cocktail hour and reception where they were awed by the outstanding floral designs all throughout the venue, expertly created by Bella Flora. After the guests enjoyed their delicious food from Food, Glorious Food, the party began! Emerald City Band had everyone on their feet dancing while John of John Cain Photography captured all the fun. Panini cakes wow’d the crowd with freshly baked cupcakes and a tasty cake.

To end the sweet and unforgettable night, bubbles filled the air as Paul and Andrea, now husband and wife, made their grand exit, taken away by a specialty Bentley car, provided by Blue Diamond Limousines. A fabulous way to complete a fabulous wedding!

Sethi Proposal

Vipin Sethi pulled out all the stops to ask his one true love, Ria Sharma, to marry him. We at As You Wish Events loved helping Vipin plan his intricately detailed and over-the-top romantic proposal!

The surprise-filled night started as Ria was picked up at her home by a white limo, of Premier Transportation. As she arrived at The Stoneleigh Hotel, she was greeted with a glass of champagne and a note to continue to the Penthouse level. Upon arrival, she received another note, explaining to follow the arrows to the penthouse terrace. All the while, Vipin is awaiting his bride-to-be, surrounded by beautiful flowers and candles, adorned by Bella Flora, and by beautiful music, performed by the talented musicians of Serenata Strings, and the perfect lighting for the scene by Beyond Lighting. As the song, “I Knew I Loved You” played, hidden cameras captured the moment Vipin proposed to Ria. Sarah Kate, of Sarah Kate Photography, shot the sweet moments that followed as the couple celebrated.

The surprises did not end there. Unknown to Ria, Vipin’s and Ria’s families were anxiously waiting to congratulate the newly engaged couple. In the salon room, the family shared a meal sitting at the most romantic table ever…a heart shaped table! Posh Couture Rentals and Big D Rentals expertly set the mood for an unforgettable night. Congratulations to AYW couple Ria and Vipin! We are so excited for what’s next…

Life of a Bride: Saying Yes to the Dress

It’s arguably one of the most special moments leading up to your wedding day, and it’s typically prefaced by hours of stress, pressure, and frustrated sighs in front of three-paneled dressing room mirrors: saying yes to your dress.

Brides to be, don’t fret! As You Wish is sharing some tricks and tips to finding the gown that both accentuates the best features of your physique and spotlights your personality type.

We realize that each bride is distinctive in body type and in style preference. Your perfect frock should be tailored in style to fit you.  Take a look at our field guide to choosing the dress that fits you best.

For petite brides:

Our tip for flattering your bite-size figure: stay away from full ball gowns. You’ll tend to get lost in an abyss of extra fabric. Instead, try on a more form-fitted silhouette that hangs close to your features. The continuous line of a sheath-style gown will stretch the length of your frame.

(Ysa Makino on TheKnot.com)

If your taste does beg for girly glamour, choose an A-line silhouette, with a neckline and waistline that shows off your bodice. We love this gown: a sweetheart neckline paired with a natural waistline will elongate your torso and add inches to your appearance.

(Oscar de la Renta on TheKnot.com)

A mermaid or trumpet silhouette will also give you the illusion of added height, and compliment your petite form. The fit-and-flare of these silhouettes won’t drown you like a full ball gown may. We’re swooning over this bateau neckline..

(Moonlight Couture on TheKnot.com)

For long and lean brides:

To give the illusion of feminine curves, say “I do” to a daring neckline with a deep v. Paired with a flared skirt, your figure will be highlighted to perfection.

(Pronovias on TheKnot.com)

Waist-whittling belts and sashes are always a good idea.  Adding interest to an edgy or frilly a-line frock with a cinching accessory will complete your perfect appearance.

(Hayley Paige on TheKnot.com)

For the sophisticated bride with a love for a whole lot of vintage lace, try a hip-hugging sheath silhouette with a bold neckline.

(Pronovias on TheKnot.com)

P.S. A deep sweetheart neckline creates the illusion of tasteful cleavage.

(David Tutera for Mon Cheri on TheKnot.com)

 For hourglass brides:

A mermaid or trumpet silhouette will celebrate your hourglass figure and hug your curves in all the right places.

If your style calls for an even fuller skirt, make sure you choose a bodice with a waistline that cinches at your smallest point. For some, this may be an empire waistline, and others may prefer cinching at their natural waist.

 (Hayley Paige on TheKnot.com)

We’re falling hard for this flattering a-line gown. It hides your hips with the fullness of the skirt, and creates terribly elegant collar bones with an off-the-shoulder neckline (a huge upcoming trend for Spring 2015)!

(Le Spose di Gio on Brides.com)

For brides with larger busts:

The key to finding a gown that compliments your larger bust is to balance out your chest with the shape of your skirt. We think this one-shoulder gown with a full skirt is to die for! The neckline will shrink the appearance of your chest and provide extra support throughout your big day.

(Pronovias on Brides.com)

A sheer neckline with lovely fabric will disguise your bust and add interest to your wedding gown.

(Pronovias on TheKnot.com)

No matter the neckline, diagonal or criss-cross ruching of the bodice will accentuate your curves in all the right ways.

(Sophia Tolli on TheKnot.com)

For added support and comfort, try an elegant high square neckline. We’re oo-ing and awe-ing at this gown’s understated beauty.

(Elie Saab on TheKnot.com)

Prioritizing your wants and wishes for your wedding day is key. This rule of thumb is our mantra throughout the entire wedding planning process, and we believe it is equally applicable to your dress-shopping endeavors. So, decide what qualities and characteristics of your gown matter most to you (and keep our field guide to finding the dress that fits you best in your back pocket), and start making appointments at your local bridal salons. Remember, your journey to the altar should be a fun and memorable one, enjoy it! Happy shopping!

Real Wedding: Hawkins – Neukom

We had such fun planning and designing this gorgeous wedding this past September. Kaci and John came to us wanting a warm, inviting wedding with Southern romance and charm. With amazing vedors like The Southern Table, BBJ, Elegant Designs and Suite 206, we were able to create a stunning setting for this lovely couple. The ceremony took place at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano and the Westin Stonebriar Hotel. Take a look at these gorgeous images captured by Jennifer Yarbro Photography-

We LOVE these formal portraits post-ceremoy! Look how happy they are!

Totally crushing on this bouquet from The Southern Table!

Real Wedding: Yang – Model

Marria & Seth’s romantic wedding was nothing short of a Dallas fairytale with dream venues; Dallas Arboretum and The Adolphus HotelJenny Martell captured a true reflection of this perfect day, take a look!

Marria and her maids dressed in the Bridal Suite at the Adolphus Hotel before heading to the Arboretum for the serene garden ceremony.  The bridesmaids wore the softest shade of pink with a delicate ruffled neckline, complimenting the bouquet of white peonies each girl held.  The Bride looked like a modern day princess in her gown & wore pale pink ballet flats with gorgeous embellishments to carry out her look.  She carried the plushest bouquet of pink peonies I have ever seen to coordinate with her bridesmaids.  The Bride’s bouquet was the perfect pop of pink that this modern fairytale wedding needed.

It couldn’t have been a more perfect day for this beautiful outdoor ceremony.  The sun was shining as bright as the Bride & Groom’s faces.  The couple met while serving in the military & the Groom looked so handsome in his uniform.  Everyone loves a man in uniform!  The Bride entered the sunken garden from the dramatic stone-carved stairs leading to her Groom.  You could feel the love between these two as they said their sweet vows and guests watched their fairytale begin.  Although Marria’s mother was watching from above, the Bride wanted to honor her by placing flowers next to her mother’s picture on the chair she would have sat.  We thought this was such a sweet way to honor those loved ones who have gone before us.

After the ceremony guests all congregated at the gorgeous Adolphus Hotel in The Century Ballroom in downtown Dallas for the reception filled with plenty of drink, food & fun!  This prettier than pink wedding carried out all the little details from ceremony to reception.  The tables were set in soft shades of pink, white, & silver with the slightest pop of green for contrast.  The mercury glass vases and tall hurricanes filled with candles gave off the modern & romantic look that the Bride & Groom were looking for.  The Bride’s cake was delicious & traditional, topped with little whimsical bunnies.  The whimsical details didn’t stop there.  The bar area was designed with a sleek mirrored top & the base was surrounded by sheets of grass to tie in their modern fairytale into their beautiful ballroom reception.

The Bride & Groom danced, the cake was cut, sweet speeches were made wishing the couple blessings & happiness.  The lights turned down low and guests danced until the music stopped.  Everyone had so much fun celebrating this sweet couple’s love!  The couple was surrounded by their closest friends & family while guests waved ribbon streamers at the the Bride & Groom as the exited their wedding to begin their new lives together… And they lived happily ever after!

We’ll be sharing even more pictures from this event on our Facebook page later this week so be sure to check back!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here at As you wish…, we are so thankful for the privilege of working with such incredible couples to plan the weddings of their dreams!

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Outdoor Ceremony Locations that WOW!

Here at As you wish…, we love working with brides to find the perfect wedding venues for their big day! While oftentimes the reception location is the primary focus (because of course you need somewhere fabulous to party the night away), the right ceremony site can also shine in its own way and provide the ideal backdrop for those once-in-a-lifetime pictures as you say, “I do!”

A childhood church with sentimental value, the adorable chapel down the road, and the convenient and complementary space to your elaborate ballroom reception are all excellent options, but one of our absolute favorites is none other than the outdoor ceremony! As we enjoy the last bit of beautiful weather before the cold really sets in, we wanted to share a few of our top outdoor ceremony locations from some of our As you wish… weddings. Take a look and comment below to tell us which one is your favorite!

The Rosewood Crescent Hotel

Nothing says classic elegance like the beautiful courtyard at the Crescent! Tucked behind the hotel lobby, this space is easy on they eyes during the day…

… and even at night!

Dallas Museum of Art

If clean lines and modern spaces are more your style, consider what the DMA has to offer–fabulous artwork inside and with a touch of simple beauty outside. The trees in the Sculpture Garden made the perfect backdrop for both of these ceremonies!

Arlington Hall at Lee Park

Arlington Hall offers a few different options for outdoor ceremonies that go hand-in-hand with their ornate ballroom receptions. Whether on the steps in front of those gorgeous white pillars, or under the architecturally-stunning pavilion on the grounds, there are plenty of beautiful sights to take in!

Marie Gabrielle

Hidden away in Uptown Dallas, Marie Gabrielle is like your own personal secret garden. Sitting under a stunning canopy of trees, your guests will be blown away by their surroundings!

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

The Arboretum definitely takes the cake for having the most versatile outdoor ceremony space–they have more ceremony location options than you can count on both hands! If you’re looking for a traditional garden wedding feel, this is the place for you!

Here is a look of three different Arboretum garden spaces…

The Westin Stonebriar

The Westin Stonebriar is the perfect location for a simple and stunning lawn wedding. It’s one our favorite locations away from the busyness of the city with plenty of charm to set your ceremony apart. Take a look at this beautiful wedding!

And finally…

Home Weddings

Whether your parents have acres of prime outdoor space or you’re hoping to transform your new home into a one-time wedding venue for your big day, home weddings add a level of sentimental value to your ceremony location. We would love nothing more than to help you find the right vendors to transform your space from backyard to beautiful!

If you’re looking to plan your wedding around a one-of-a-kind outdoor ceremony, be sure to give us a call–we would love to help make your dreams a reality!
