Real Wedding: Johnson-McLamb

We’ve been waiting with bated breath to see the photos of this out-of-a-dream October wedding since the moment this sweet AYW couple said “I do.” We knew it early on in the journey of planning and designing this outdoor Fall soiree: Taylor and Chris’ celebration would be an evening to remember.

Guests were driven from the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church ceremony to Downton Dallas’ Nasher Sculpture Center. In the heart of the big city, this coveted sculpture garden venue was the perfect location for Taylor and Chris’ families to entertain their beloved guests. During the cocktail hour, a jazz band played whiled guests sipped on signature drinks- complete with customized stir sticks and beverage napkins adorned with the couple’s monogram, designed by Southern Fried Paper. Upon the happy couple’s entrance, the party found their escort cards tied with dainty twine to a stunning boxwood trellis wall display. Dinner tables were decked with bright, bold linen and statement centerpieces full of unexpected texture and pastel blooms thanks to Bella Acento and Bella Flora. The bridal party took their seats at a jaw-droppingly gorgeous farmstead-style head table; topped with a floral garland runner and lovely blue china. The guests of honor, Taylor and Chris, found their chairs draped in free-form greenery with “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair back signage. Swanky lounge furniture surrounded an all-white dance floor, and everyone danced under sparkly string lights to an epic performance by band, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. The cake, created by Panini Bakery, was (almost) too pretty to eat. At the end of a fabulous evening spent under the stars, custom favor boxes of Godiva chocolate were picked up by each guest after they said farewell to the newlyweds with waving ribbon wands.

Needless to say, these images (captured beautifully by Jennifer Yarbro) have us all kinds of “heart eyes,” and we’re pretty sure they’ll have you gushing, too. Take a look at this sneak peek preview and check back on our Facebook page later this week for a complete album of all the prettiness!

Real Wedding: Turner – Price

AYW lead designer and planner, Rachel Burt, loves getting to know her clients’ families. So, of course, it’s a special honor when the little sister of a past AYW bride reconnects with Rachel following her own engagement. Such was the case with this week’s Real Wedding feature, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be apart of a second Turner family affair. Add on the adventure of Claire and groom, Michael’s, destination venue… let’s just say, we were smitten.

A bayside resort was the perfect, scenic backdrop for Claire and Michael’s nuptials. Fortunately, the threat of impending rain was bypassed and their Horseshoe Bay yacht club reception took place as hoped: under bright, clear skies. Fabulous weather, signature cocktails, romantic cafe string lighting, a glowing bride and groom, and the sound of waves lapping against the dock of the bay made for a dreamy Fall wedding. A couple of our favorite details: an escort card wall display complete with a horseshoe tied to each guest’s table assignment, and the bride and groom’s grand exit by way of speed boat. Enjoy a few preview images, captured by Gerri Flory Photography, of this pretty September evening- we’re pretty sure they’ll have you smitten and wishing for warmer days, too. The full album will be on our Facebook page later this week!

Real Wedding: Trujillo-Strode

There’s something especially personal that comes with hosting a wedding on family property … and, it becomes incredibly Texan (and fabulous) when the property is a spacious ranch. Madison and James’ Fall celebration was classic and glamorous, with a touch of rustic, Texas flair. The duo said “I do” beneath a fabulous floral archway created by the Garden Gate. Regal blue and white china vases, oversized lanterns, and stylish lounge furniture pieces were spread thick throughout the outdoor ceremony and reception. Take a look at the gorgeous details captured by Sengbush Photography, and check back on our Facebook page later this week for the full photo album from this event!

Real Wedding: Pantuso-Schaible Reception

Last week, we shared images of our sweet As You Wish bride, Ashley’s, rooftop ceremony at The Wyly Theatre. After the ceremony, guests rode elevators down to an awe-inducing reception space. Bright, pink Bella Flora blooms brought bold color to each table top; trendy lounge furniture complemented cross back dining chairs; and an out-of-this-world head table lighting installation of Edison bulbs and geometric vases boasted modern sophistication. To continue with the incorporation of flight-themed details, airport codes took the place of table numbers (home base, DFW, identified the head table) and each guest’s menu card was displayed in a sleek, black luggage tag. The sunken, lit dance floor- and Andy Austin’s top-notch DJ’ing- ushered guests into an evening of dancing and good fun. We hope you enjoy the details from this celebration as much as we have! A big thanks to Carter Rose of f8 Studio for capturing all this gorgeous- check our Facebook page for the full photo album from this epic event!

Real Wedding: McCoy – Doolittle

We have been so eager to show off this jaw-dropping, heart-stopping, right-out-of-a-dream wedding. Our As You Wish bride, Rose, and her fabulous mother, Dr. Rosemary McCoy, came to us with big dreams of throwing a once-in-a-lifetime, fun party that would blow their guests away… and send them running to the dance floor. The design scheme showcased the Pantone color of the year for 2014, radiant orchid, in all of it’s glory. Stunning floral centerpieces dripping in crystals, a custom silver dance floor, and bright, bold, sparkly table linens of varying textures- all courtesy of Jackson Durham, decked this Dallas Country Club reception in glamour.

Rose and her groom, John, were both studying to become Doctors during the planning process. Thus, having their guests transcribe a “Prescription for a Happy Marriage” on customized Rx pads in place of a traditional guest book was a precious, personal touch.

We loved this unique floor plan utilizing full-of-flair lounge furniture and chic ghost chairs for a swanky alternative to ordinary reception seating.

Talk about a party! This take on the Groom’s dessert of choice was above and beyond. A one-of-a-kind whiskey bar featuring local whiskey and the Groom’s personal favorites, complete with suggested gourmet chocolate pairings, was a huge hit!

Guests said farewell to the Bride and Groom and they made off in an adorable, vintage getaway car. It was truly an unforgettable affair! Be sure to pay a visit to our Facebook page later this week to view all of the photos of this spectacular wedding by Edmonson Photography.

Real Wedding: Jones – Holmes

This week’s featured “Real Wedding” was a favorite this past December & we can’t wait to share these fabulous images The Three captured from the event!

Danielle and Dave’s modern wedding was perfect for a brisk, winter event.   The bride & groom wanted their special day to reflect all the current trends while staying true to the season.  This color scheme was as cool as ice with rich navy hues & subtle hints of silver & white tucked away in every detail.  This beautiful wedding was held at Cityplace Events and the atmosphere did not disappoint.

The details throughout the event were over the top fabulous & coordinated perfectly with the bride’s color choice!  The tables were styled to perfection, creating an that sparkled.  The groom is responsible for the romantic lighting that set the ambiance for the whole evening.  This bride loves crafting & had a hand in designing every detail we executed for her!  The invitations, escort cards, programs, & coasters all decked out in silver glitter & navy blue.   The menu was a fun touch & set the tone for the party!  It really was the best day ever!

The bride’s cake was a trendsetter with the modern chevron detailing.  Danielle & Dave wanted to keep it simple with the cake & finish dessert off with milk & cookies.  The couple also had quite the candy bar for guests to grab on their way out the door; equipped with the most delicious chocolate cake balls, I might add!  The adorable details didn’t stop there, the couple had the cutest personalized labels made for their guests to remember the night.

We had so much fun planning this wedding & the look on the Bride & Groom’s faces at the end of the night, said it all!  This event was a party to remember!  The guests danced & celebrated the couple with confetti – And this couple danced until they dropped!

We’ll be sharing even more pictures from this event on our Facebook page later this week so be sure to check back!

Outdoor Ceremony Locations that WOW!

Here at As you wish…, we love working with brides to find the perfect wedding venues for their big day! While oftentimes the reception location is the primary focus (because of course you need somewhere fabulous to party the night away), the right ceremony site can also shine in its own way and provide the ideal backdrop for those once-in-a-lifetime pictures as you say, “I do!”

A childhood church with sentimental value, the adorable chapel down the road, and the convenient and complementary space to your elaborate ballroom reception are all excellent options, but one of our absolute favorites is none other than the outdoor ceremony! As we enjoy the last bit of beautiful weather before the cold really sets in, we wanted to share a few of our top outdoor ceremony locations from some of our As you wish… weddings. Take a look and comment below to tell us which one is your favorite!

The Rosewood Crescent Hotel

Nothing says classic elegance like the beautiful courtyard at the Crescent! Tucked behind the hotel lobby, this space is easy on they eyes during the day…

… and even at night!

Dallas Museum of Art

If clean lines and modern spaces are more your style, consider what the DMA has to offer–fabulous artwork inside and with a touch of simple beauty outside. The trees in the Sculpture Garden made the perfect backdrop for both of these ceremonies!

Arlington Hall at Lee Park

Arlington Hall offers a few different options for outdoor ceremonies that go hand-in-hand with their ornate ballroom receptions. Whether on the steps in front of those gorgeous white pillars, or under the architecturally-stunning pavilion on the grounds, there are plenty of beautiful sights to take in!

Marie Gabrielle

Hidden away in Uptown Dallas, Marie Gabrielle is like your own personal secret garden. Sitting under a stunning canopy of trees, your guests will be blown away by their surroundings!

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

The Arboretum definitely takes the cake for having the most versatile outdoor ceremony space–they have more ceremony location options than you can count on both hands! If you’re looking for a traditional garden wedding feel, this is the place for you!

Here is a look of three different Arboretum garden spaces…

The Westin Stonebriar

The Westin Stonebriar is the perfect location for a simple and stunning lawn wedding. It’s one our favorite locations away from the busyness of the city with plenty of charm to set your ceremony apart. Take a look at this beautiful wedding!

And finally…

Home Weddings

Whether your parents have acres of prime outdoor space or you’re hoping to transform your new home into a one-time wedding venue for your big day, home weddings add a level of sentimental value to your ceremony location. We would love nothing more than to help you find the right vendors to transform your space from backyard to beautiful!

If you’re looking to plan your wedding around a one-of-a-kind outdoor ceremony, be sure to give us a call–we would love to help make your dreams a reality!

Real Wedding: Andemicael – Pyfrom Wedding

We love everything about this fun, colorful Eritrean As you wish… wedding! The ceremony took place at Royal Lane Baptist Church and the reception continued at The Frontiers of Flight Museum–the perfect venue to accommodate the 800-person guest count!

Take a look at some of the fabulous photos from the ceremony taken by Joseph Mark Photography:

Then it was on to the reception at the Frontiers of Flight Museum!

Our favorite details:

The custom groom’s suit–created for him by one of his groomsmen! Talk about talent!

The display of the bridal cake–we love how the beautiful tall tiers are magically floating atop a lucite table. It made such a dramatic statement!

And finally, the favors at each place setting and on each table–the Honey Wine, known as Mies, is a staple in Eritrean celebrations!

Overall, this wedding was so FUN! From the meaningful and sentimental ceremony to the delicious Eritrean dinner and rockin’ dance party, the bride, groom, and guests had a fantastic experience. We were so happy to be a part of it!
